Professor Andrew Messenger is a dermatologist who specializes in hair disorders at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Sheffield Children’s Hospital before retiring from clinical practice in 2020. Professor Jafferany is a pioneer in psychotrichology—the study of the psychiatric aspects of hair disorders—and serves as President of the Association for Psychocutaneous Medicine of North America and Chairperson of World Psychodermatology Day.

With over 20 years of clinical experience and a Master of Medicine from Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, she previously served at Shanghai Tongren Hospital and is published in the Chinese Journal of Dermatology.
